Employment Opportunity: Deputy Locomotive Engineer

The Trust has a vacancy for a Deputy Locomotive Engineer who will be a key part of the team supporting the operation of our locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley. This activity is based at Crewe, however will also involve activities all around the UK. Accommodation will be available in our locomotive support coach.

The Trust will soon commence the contract overhaul of A4 'Pacific' 60019 Bittern at a location in North Yorkshire, the candidate is expected to make a contribution to this activity but as a secondary role.

The position will offer the opportunity to develop the applicant's skill set in both management and practical engineering, working with our highly experienced and skilled team. This is a full-time salaried position reporting to our Locomotive Engineer.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge of steam locomotive engineering at a practical level and operational experience with either Network Rail or heritage railways. Experience in a supervisory role would be beneficial (e.g. supervising/organising a small engineering team or locomotive support team).
